Stentiford's Old Vines Shiraz
Wine
Brand's Laira Stentiford's Old Vines Shiraz is named after Captain Stentiford, the retired English sea captain who in 1893 purchased the land and planted its Shiraz vines.
Today Captain Stentiford's Shiraz plantings are considered among the finest on the Limestone Coast. His Shiraz vines grow in the estate Laira Vineyard in classic terra rossa soils.
The fruit is destemmed and crushed to ferment on skins in small stainless steel tanks. After pressing, the juice is pumped to new French oak to complete primary and malolactic fermentation.
Several times during its oak maturation the wine is racked off lees, the barrels cleaned and the wine returned. After 21 months, individual barrels are assessed for quality and the final blend assembled.
Vibrant dark crimson, Brand's Laira Stentiford's Old Vines Shiraz is full bodied with dark berry flavours, spicy oak and fine velvety tannins. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
